This National Building Contractor builds some of the most interesting, complex and challenging construction projects in Australia across a diverse range of project types keeping them firmly at the forefront of innovation. Project values typically range between $10M - $250M.
The team that you will be working with are extremely supportive. You will be with one of the most respected Senior Project Managers in the industry and an amazing Site Manager who is a gifted mentor on a major land mark design and construct mixed use development.
What makes this role more attractive than others?
Firstly the team that you will be joining is first rate. Secondly the Company are in an enviable position where they are able to hand pick projects and most of the work that they do is negotiated. They have a loyal group of subcontractors, the jobs are organised and everyone gets paid on time! As projects are very technically challenging you will always be engaged, always learning and developing your skill set. This organisation embraces cutting edge construction techniques. The environment is fast paced but the team still have their feet firmly on the ground. Despite all their successes the culture is down to earth.
What skills do you need ?
You must have a lot of energy and enthusiasm and be very passionate about construction. You have a very sharp eye for detail and you are motivated and focused on meeting deadlines.
Strange as it may seem to others you actually love working in a pressurised environment – you like to be challenged and you enjoy accomplishing things and seeing things through to the end. You have never been one to say “that will do” you want to make sure that projects are completed to a very high standard.
You are a team player and you are aware of what is happening around you and you work with the subcontractors adopting a partnership approach to achieve great results. The subcontractors enjoy working with you because they are able to ask your advice and you are always willing to help them to keep the project moving along.
You are probably a Carpenter by trade although if you began your career with another finishes trade that is also acceptable. You might be an all rounder who is a good Foreman or General Foreman but you just have a passion for the finishes trades. Maybe you are working for a Fit out and Refurbishment Contractor and have been looking for an opportunity to cross over to a main contractor to work on new build jobs. This could be a win / win; you can shine when it comes to the finishes trades and at the same time build your working knowledge of structure and gain a more rounded knowledge base.
As this is a long term role you could move into a General Foreman’s role in the future. The retention of staff with this builder is exceptional and there are many examples of individuals who have grown and developed with this organisation, fulfilling long term ambitions.
